Valentine's Day 2006
Valenitne's Day!!! Day of love, hugs and kisses.
But after 5 years of living together, Ricky and I get plenty of love, hugs and kisses everyday. So how do you make this on day special-er? We discussed the romantic possibilities and decided that instead of getting each other presents, we'd just save the money to take a trip together in the future! Hey, why not be more practical?
As for the standard dinner, we decided to take care of that as well before actual Valentine's day. I mean, why get ripped off and pay more for a mass cooked meal at a nice restaurant? So we made reservations last Friday at Danube, one of the best (and most expensive) restaurants in the City. We ordered the tasting menu....yummy! I started with the tuna sashimi then the lobster then the NY strip with foie gras and the souffle. Ricky also started with the tuna sashimi, then the halibut, then veal schnitzel and finally also the souffle. Yummm.....
While we didn't plan to go out to dinner again we did! Haha...we went to Hoboken to return the Wedding Crashers DVD and was lucky enough to catch a car just vacating it's parking spot! It was just too good to be true, so we decided to take it first, then think. We walked tover to La Isla, the best cuban restaurant ever and since it was not crowded (for once) we decided to celebrate Valentine's day there. While it's a very casual hole in the wall restaurant, we had candlelight and flowers on the table. It was still very romantic and I just LOVE the food there! I also got a dozen roses from Ricky. So they were from thue PATH train guy, so what!? Why overpay for the same flowers and nicer packaging..I put them ina vase and they look beautiful, very fresh! Overall, it was a great V-Day. :)

The largest snowstorm in the history of New York City!
Today, the tri-state area was hit with the largest snowstom in the history of New York city. With snowfall in Central Park reaching 23 inches high. Snow started falling last night at around 8PM and didn't stop until 4PM today. The flakes were large and fluffy. While we went to sleep with almost no snow on the ground, we woke up to very significant accumulation.
On our new deck, the snow reached above my knee almost to mid-thigh! As Ricky shoveled, we let Brownie out to play in the fuzzy white stuff. He enjoyed himself immensely! Brownie can plow through the snow much faster than I thought, he just leap right through and fell right in, so cute.

For lunch, we ventured out in the "blizzard-like" conditions to take the PATH to Hoboken and join Usa and Ray and them at Oddfellows. The food there was really good! I was impressed, and pleasantly suprised. After lunch, we hiked back to Ray's place to play mahjong. On the way back, we threw snowballs at each other and ran around in the snow...it was so much fun. Mahjong was fun too, but Euhan won overall...bummer! After we got really tired of playing mahjong, we went out for dinner. We wanted to go to Satay but it was closed because of the snowstore, so instead, we went to Sushi Lounge. Their rolls are so yummy, I especially love the Hoboken roll. Sooo..gooooood....

Fast Foward...
To today! I'm so behind on my vacation stories I figured I'd just really quickly update to today, and make up for the lost time slowly.
I finally tried out the acupuncture, acupressure place that opened on Grove street today. Just had a 30 min massage, not bad! Chinese tua na is pretty special...it's not expensive for New York standards, but still, expensive enough for me to budget my exposure. Next I want to try the acupuncture, but I need to set up an appointment to see the doctor. Love having the place so close, but worried that they might shut down for lack of business! What can you do...
Good news! Ricky got 2 more job offers! That brings the total count to 4. The great thing is, these most recent ones are the ones that he actually wants. I'm so happy for him!
