Da Vinci Code - The Movie

Still sick today, but a little better than yesterday. My voice came back so at least I can speak!

My cousin H decided to take the flight back to Hong Kong today, so she took us out to a nice brunch and we drove her out to JFK to catch her flight. Lunch was at the 3 Forty Restaurant in Hoboken, right on the riverfront, very pretty! The traffic to JFK was heavy, but manageable and we made good time. H gave me hourly updates on whether we would be able to get on the plane and luckily, she did!

After dropping H off, we drove to Columbia to pick up the stuff I had left in my locker. It is so sad to think that I will hardly even visit that the place I had frequently almost daily for the past two years. The lobby in Uris Hall was under construction and I suppose will be spanking new and beautiful for the new class of 2008.

On the way home, we stopped by Target to pick up some basics. Target! My favorite store! :) The coolest new purchase are solar powered outdoor lights that we placed in strategic locations on the deck. I love them! The deck was so dark before and going down the stairs a night was often frightening, now, the subtle deck illumination makes things safer and adds a bot of mood lighting to the surroundings.

Finally, we met up with C&A, E and A to see The Da Vinci Code. The movie was eh...ok. It actually kind of dragged and there wasn't enough action to make the movie exciting. All the intellectual exercises in the book had to be skimmed over to keep the story moving and that really took away from the "revelation" factor that made the book so interesting. I'd give it a 3+ out of 5, knowing how hard it must have been to translate such a complicated plot into a 2.5 hr screenplay.
